Ingredients

Dough
  • 2 8-oz (250 g) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 lb (250 g) butter, softened
  • 21/4 cups (550 mL) flour
  • Pinch of salt
Filling
  • 1 lb (500 g) sharp cheddar (or mild, if you prefer), shredded
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) chopped parsley

Directions

Makes 24 servings.
To prepare dough

Blend cream cheese and butter. Add flour and salt and mix until dough just sticks together. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for an hour.

To prepare filling

Mix all ingredients together.

To make turnovers

Roll out dough to thickness of a typical pie crust. Cut circles with a pastry cutter or juice glass.

Place a spoonful of cheese mixture in the centre of each circle; fold over and crimp edge with fork.

Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 20 minutes.
