The colourful city of St. John’s, NL, is home to a busy, vibrant market whose motto is “Make it, Bake it, Grow it.” Open from June through September, it’s run by a volunteer board and is located at the Lion’s Club Chalet on Bonaventure Avenue.

As with many markets, it has an array of local produce and meats; check out the artisan crafts including textiles, clothing accessories and jewellery. Michelle May, a St. John’s resident who wrote to us tell us about the wonderful market, wisely advised us to go early and go hungry. Prepared foods include international dishes, made-to-order waffles, fudge, cupcakes and breads. In return for supporting the local community, you’ll be well rewarded with an energizing, community atmosphere.
