Ingredients

2 tbsp (30 mL) olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
6 oz (175 g) sliced beef tenderloin
1/4 cup (50 mL) onions, julienned
1/4 cup (50 mL) red pepper, julienned
1/4 cup (50 mL) mushrooms, sliced
1/4 tsp (1 mL) milled pepper
3 oz (75 g) Newfoundland sea salted Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
2 Hoagie buns, split and buttered

Directions

In a medium sized saucepan over high heat, heat olive oil until shimmering, add garlic and steak; sauté until steak is barely pink inside, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add onions, peppers, mushrooms and seasoning, cook for 3 to 4 minutes or until vegetables soften; stir cheese into beef mixture and set aside. In a separate pan, grill buttered Hoagie buns until crispy and golden, about 2 to 3 minutes. Place filling onto buns and serve. Makes 2 servings.
